Federation Commemorates Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month

February is Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month (JDAIM)! Join our local Greater MetroWest community and hundreds of other organizations around the world that participate in JDAIM. Jewish Disability Awareness and Inclusion Month reminds us that ALL Jews, without regard to disability, must have access to Jewish life – to work live, love, play, learn and worship how and where they choose, and to contribute to this wonderful place we call our Greater MetroWest Jewish community.

Advocacy continues to be at the forefront of what we do in promoting inclusive practices in the Jewish community. I welcome you to join Jews from across the US for the 10th Annual Jewish Disability Advocacy Day, February 26th, in Washington DC. Let me know if you plan to attend. We often have a local contingent of professionals and self-advocates attend together.

Please share all that you are doing to honor JDAIM with Greater MetroWest ABLE! ABLE will help to promote congregational experiences and community programs. Help us to spread the word about the value of creating an inclusive Jewish community. Remember to LIKE and SHARE stories and program on the Greater MetroWest ABLE Facebook page and email your calendar of JDAIM events to metrowestABLE@jfedgmw.org or call (973) 929-3129.

Join us in recognizing JDAIM in February! And in the months that follow, support people with disabilities to belong. Isn’t that, after all, what we all want? A sense of belonging within our own Jewish community!
